I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor’s degree in art education. Shortly after, I began teaching secondary art, mostly in grade 7 through 10. This proved to be an education in itself. I taught for 30 years in central Arkansas.
We have 3 children and 5 wonderful grandchildren. I have also worked at a well-known restaurant in Conway. Bob’s grille, a friend purchased it and asked me to help her and I did for 15 years. I did everything from cooking to waiting tables to running the cash register. I was still teaching for all but the last 8 years of my tenure at the restaurant. The restaurant closed in 2020 and I took 3 months off during that time, which was during COVID. In July of 2020 I went to work at Baker Drugstore answering their phone and working at the cash register. I completely retired in November of 2024.
During my years teaching I taught students to work in many different art forms. Teaching perspective was always one of my favorite areas. It was always exciting to see when the students were able to create something that looked 3 dimensional on paper using proportion and vanishing points, I also enjoy using perspective to create my own art. Color pencil, pen and ink, and pencil are media that I enjoy working in the most. I enjoy creating works of art from photos that I have taken during the trips that my husband and I have taken, I experimented with a drawing program on my iPad during covid. It was learning experience. I came up with a few interesting pieces. Hopefully now that I have joined the CLA and am fully retired. I can focus on doing some more creating. I am looking forward to getting to know the other members and learning from each of you.
