Beth Ivens, Artist Biography:

I was raised in north central Arkansas, just a short drive from Norfork and Bull Shoals lakes, and the Buffalo and White rivers. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in art education from University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. I was an artist for a small folk art company and an art teacher for thirty-six years. While my creative outlet during those years focused mostly on creating art samples for my students I carved out time to return to my roots and my love for the beauty of the Ozarks. I enjoy painting landscapes in plein air, figurative subjects and looking for beauty in the contrasts within color, light and shadows in unexpected places. My preferred media are pastels, watercolor, oils and currently gouache. I have participated in several exhibitions including: Area Art Club Art Show twice receiving Best of Show, Ozark Regional Arts Council Art Show, Dunbar Gallery Faculty Exhibits in Mountain Home, Arkansas and PALS Art Shows in Yellville, Arkansas. I have attended several workshops with the most recent being Michael Warrick’s Portrait Modeling, at University of Arkansas Little Rock, and Watercolor with Texas artist, David Tripp, at ORAC’s Women Artist Retreat at Stone Creek Ranch in Buford, Arkansas. I retired from Mountain Home School District June, 2023 so now I am a woman driven to paint for the joy of painting.
