CLA 2025 Spring Show Awards & Poetry Reading
Monday, May 12th 5:30-8:30pm at Faulkner County Library
We are excited to announce that entrants will have the opportunity to be published in Slant Magazine and Suzanne Underwood Rhodes, the current Poet Laureate of Arkansas is one of featured poets.
Our Poets

Suzanne Underwood Rhodes
is a native of New York, she now lives in Fayetteville and has published several poetry collections.

Michael Blanchard
is an Arkansas poet, teacher, editor, and event organizer, artist and advocate, mentor, promoter and performer.

Exciting news! Michael Blanchard, the editor of the online Poetry magazine “Slant” will be publishing a special edition that will feature the winning artwork from the show. What a great opportunity!
We will also have 1st ($100), 2nd ($75), 3rd ($50), and an honorable mention award in each of three categories.

Visual artists should be prepared to share how the poem they chose inspired them. Pick up artwork Monday June 9th.

These are the important dates and how to prepare your work for the show.
Tuesday April 1st Submission opens for online entries
Tuesday April 29th Online submission closes
Wednesday April 30th 3:00-6:00 pm Drop off artwork at the Faulkner County Library
Monday May 12th 5:00-8:30 pm Artist’s Reception and Poetry Reading Open to the Public
Monday June 9th Show pick up 5:00-6:00 pm, prior to regular meeting
Show Rules & Regulations
There are three categories- 1) artwork inspired by Suzanne Underwood Rhodes’ poems 2) artwork inspired by Michael Blanchard’s poems 3) artwork inspired by poems from the At Large category
Show juror is to be decided
Entry Fees for members are $20 for 1/ $25 for 2/ $30 for 3
Entry Fees for non-members are $45 for 1/ $50 for 2/ $55 for 3 (this fee includes a membership to CLA)
You may register on the day of drop off for an additional $5 fee
Fees are due at drop-off. Cash or check only.
All artwork must be properly prepared for display.
Artwork must have wire with screw eyes or D-rings. No sawtooth hangers.
Watercolors, pastels, graphics, photographs and all two-dimensional artwork on paper must be framed with glass or plexiglass.
Unframed canvases will be accepted if they are gallery wrapped and painted on all sides.
Maximum size including frame is 41 inches.
3D works must be stable to avoid damage to art or viewer. Work will be displayed openly on library shelves.
I understand that artwork must…

-remain on display for the duration of the show.
-not have won awards in any previous shows.
-have been completed in the last two years
-be original -Original work is an idea or expression that the artist thought of themselves. Artwork is NOT original when an artist deliberately copies another’s art creation, whether painting, drawing, photograph or tutorial.
-be appropriate for public viewing by all ages.

-not have won awards in any previous shows.
-have been completed in the last two years

Copyright and all other rights to the artwork will remain with the artist. Conway League of Artists reserves the right to use images of artists, their artwork and their bios for promotional purposes.
CLA and FCL are not responsible for damages or loss. Reasonable care will be given to works submitted.
Art that is not picked up at the designated time will become the property of CLA.
