During my senior year in college, Hallmark Cards, Inc. came to our art department to recruit graduating artists. I was offered a job as a commercial artist. Armed with my BFA from Arizona State, I began working for Hallmark in September that year. In Kansas City, I joined about 25 other recruits from art schools and universities around the country.
After a few years, I moved to NYC and worked for a small card company whose studio was located on the 65th floor of the Empire State Building.
Eventually, I changed careers and traveled all over the world. All along, at every opportunity, I visited art museums, and galleries, and took studio classes. Throughout the pressures and demands of my professional and family life, I never stop learning about art, and about the nature of people, friends, and loved ones. I wanted to paint them all, but could not devote the time. More recently I have concentrated on drawing and painting people.
